It had already been two and a half years that we were living together. I hoped to make it official that we were moving onto the next step in our lives, so I "conveniently" left information with my ring size and the style I liked next to Gabe's computer. haha. However, I had no clue if and when a ring would come.
It was about 2 months until our 6 year anniversary. We joined a friend to spend Labor Day at the zoo. As the weather got cooler, we decided to leave to grab dinner. We decided to go back a couple weeks later to see the animals we missed.
We returned to the zoo on September 18, 2010. We wanted to catch the Sea Lion show so we boarded the skyfari aerial tram. Gabe was ancy, constant movements in his seat and was shaking the cart. I, being afraid heights, urged him to stop moving as we were in the air. Gabe grabbed my hand to calm me down. He said, "you know, we've been together a long time." I replied, "yeah, I know", not thinking anything of it since we always joked that we were dating for 2 years when in fact it was almost 6 years of togetherness. I was more concerned with the shaking cart and us still being in the air, grasping on to dear life in hopes of not plummeting to join the monkeys or gorillas.
Next, he got down on his knee. He took a breath, then said, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" I was surprised, and immediately began crying. He pulled out the most beautiful ring from his pocket. I said, "YES!" and proceeded to cry and giggle. It all happened so fast!
