Busy March

It's only mid-March and we have already had a lot going on...

The first weekend, Gabe enjoyed his annual Arizona trip with the guys. They spent the time watching a few "practice" baseball games, and playing horseshoes. Apparently Gabe thought the horseshoes were rigged, because he didn't win once.

That same weekend, I flew to Sacramento for my bridal shower. I didn't want to because it would put pressure on others, including myself, and everyone already had a lot on their plates. However, my lovely Maid of Honor insisted that I needed one. So she, my mommy, and bridesmaids hosted the shower.

Everything turned out so beautiful! My MOH decorated according to my wedding colors. All the decorations were made especially so that I could use them at home or at the wedding. She even had enlarged and framed a childhood picture each of Gabe and myself to bring home. We will definitely be displaying them at the wedding.

The food was amazing as well. Plenty of filling appetizers, lil cupcakes, turquoise lemonade, and blue dyed jello shots. I had been under a lot of stress the previous few weeks. The bridal shower was a nice, short break away from other things. It allowed me to catch up with my dear family and friends I had not seen in a while.

Mummy & Me
Unfortunately, I packed super lightly for the trip (a first for me). Sissy brought some luggage for me to use to bring home what I could. Another friend offered to drive the rest home to me the week of the wedding. Thank you so much to my bridesmaids, mum, and especially my MOH for putting in such an effort to make me feel loved!

Last Saturday we hosted a housewarming party. Gabe's family and a few of our friends stopped by. We had a Mexican food theme. We provided cerveza, and tamarindo flavored Jarritos soda. Gabe grilled some pescado and pollo, of which we topped on our tostadas. I made flag rice for the first time, using a recipe from my Frida cookbook. It was a long day, but well worth it. Good food and good company.

After everyone left, Gabe and I  relaxed to watch a movie. Sunday morning we had forgotten about the time change, so we got a slow start for breakfast/brunch. We stopped at the mall to find Gabe a shirt for our engagement photos since we discovered the night before that the shirt he had planned to wear was ripped. The rip could not be patched up easily either.

Next I went to my trial appointment with Joanna of Glam Dolls Hair & Makeup Artistry. Joanna had been recommended to me by our wedding coordinator. She was fabulous! Super friendly, professional, and fast. I gave her a basic idea of what I wanted and she turned it into a look far better than I imagined.

Sunday afternoon we went to Coronado. We met with Tina of Stephina Photography for our our engagement session. We took pictures at the old Ferry Landing and beach. It was a blast! Tina is hilarious and fun to work with. Apparently we are blink masters. Either Gabe or I would blink, so there were quite a few takes of each pose. A few of the pictures were posted last night: Lili + Gabe Engagement Teasers . I love them and can't wait to see the rest! We look forward to working with Tina and Stephanie on the Big Day!

As of Monday, our Honeymoon is now paid for in full! We'll be paying off our vendors in late March and early April. Then will need to save to have some spending money for the honeymoon, as well as a few other trips this year.

Next up for us this month...
Gabe is finally going to the doctor. Luckily, he has been healthy enough to not need medical attention. However, with our upcoming honeymoon, he needs a physical. Then we'll be going to get our travel shots. The bummer is, we both need a tetanus. Last I needed one, I had stepped on a nail. I remember the shot hurting far worse than the nail. Also, our medical insurances won't cover travel vaccinations. So we'll be shelling out extra cash for the tetanus and other shots we need. Then Gabe will be getting together with a few friends to plan a local Bachelor night... we'll continue hitting the gym to look presentable at our wedding... and hopefully gather the rest of our RSVP's.
